SOWK 322 - Child Welfare and Advocacy III

(3cr) The purpose of this course is to prepare students to recognize the effects of child maltreatment and apply intervention strategies for children and their families. Multidisciplinary approaches to prevention, advocacy, and treatment of child maltreatment survivors will be presented and discussed. Issues of race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, gender, and religion and their intersection with child maltreatment interventions and advocacy will be explored. This course is designed for students majoring in social work, sociology, criminal justice, psychology, nursing, education, or other areas where knowledge of child maltreatment and advocating for children might be necessary. Prerequisites: SOWK 320 .
