MATH 422 - Financial Mathematics(3cr) Topics include interest, nominal and effective rates, force of interest, present and current values, and other issues pertaining to time value of money; present, current, and accumulated values for annuities and other cash flows with non-contingent payments; loans and amortization; book value, redemption value, coupon rate, and other issues pertaining to bonds; yield curves, rates of return, durations and convexities (Macaulay and modified), spot and forward rates, stock prices and dividends, and other matters pertaining to general cash flows and potfolios; cash flow matching and immunization; interest rate swaps. This course is designed to prepare students for the Society of Actuaries’ Exam FM. Prerequisites: MATH 421 .
