MATH 421 - Advanced Probability and Statistics(3cr) Topics include jointly distributed random variables, joint probabilityfunctions, and marginal probability distributions; transformations of jointly distributed random variables and their distributions; moments for joint, conditional, and marginal random variables; moment-generating functions; analysis and applications of order statistics; probabilities and moments of linear combinations of independent random variables; the Central Limit Theorem and its application; Poisson processes. This course is designed to prepare students for the Society of Actuaries’ Exam P. Prerequisites: MATH 321 .
