SPAN 416 - Studies in Bilingualism(3 cr) The purpose of this course is to examine important aspects fo bilingualism, such as language maintenance, change, and loss, and various characteristics of bilingual speech (convergence, simplification, code switching, loans, etc.). In particular, this course focuses on the Spanish bilingual speakers at all levels of linguistic research (phoentics/phonology, morpho-syntax, lexicon, etc.) by also examining different bilingual communities in the Spanish-speaking world and the United States. Prerequisites: SPAN 301 , SPAN 302 , or pemission of instructor.
