AVIA 373 - National Airspace Systems Security Planning (3cr) This course is an introduction to security in the National Airspace System. In the first part of this course, students will be introduced to fundamental concepts of information security including the establishment and implementation of an organization-wide security policy, which is designed to protect the information assets of an organization. This part of the course provides the student with the skills necessary to develop organizational security policies and lays the foundation for continued study in the areas of information security. In the second part of the course, students will apply information security principles to the National Airspace System (NAS). Technical controls will be based on an understanding of datasets collected from the NAS. The NAS is an overlooked component of the national cyberinfrastructure. It has a critical dependence on unimpeded cyberoperations. Students will develop security policies for the NAS. Prerequisites: AVIA 374
