PSCI 250 - Community Leadership & Advocacy (3cr) This course prepares students to be effective community leaders. Participants acquire the knowledge and skills to advocate for themselves, their employers, their community, and the causes about which they are passionate. Once grounded in the basics of types of influence, governance structures, social trust, civil discourse and deliberation, team building, and their own leadership style, students will learn to engage productively with legislators and other regional leaders through effective communication skills and ethical use of data. As they work through each week’s project, participants develop their interest into actionable plans and present these plans to real-world decision-makers.
