CNSL 518 - Marriage and Family Counseling

(3cr) This course explores foundational theories, models, and clinical practices in marriage and family counseling from a systemic perspective. Students examine the development, dynamics, and functioning of couples and families, including communication patterns, relational roles, power structures, and common presenting issues such as conflict, divorce, and trauma. The curriculum integrates social justice and multicultural perspectives, emphasizing ethical and culturally competent counseling with diverse family systems. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based practices, systemic assessment tools, and collaboration with community resources to support relational healing and growth.
