EDUC 369 - Adv Teach Methods ID

(3cr) This course provides an in-depth exploration of evidence-based instructional strategies and inclusive teaching practices designed to support the learning and development of students with intellectual disabilities (ID). This course emphasizes advanced methods for designing, adapting, and delivering effective instruction that promotes academic, functional, and social outcomes for learners with ID across diverse educational settings.

Students will critically examine the characteristics and educational needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities, with a focus on differentiation, individualized instruction, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and the use of assistive technologies. Emphasis is placed on fostering independence, promoting inclusion, and collaborating with families, paraprofessionals, and interdisciplinary teams. Students will gain the skills necessary to create supportive, engaging, and accessible learning environments. Students will be equipped to implement personalized, responsive teaching strategies that empower students with intellectual disabilities to reach their full potential.
