SOWK 407 - Social Work Practicum I (3 cr) The culmination of the social work student’s course work in which the student will be expected to transform theory, knowledge, and skills into practice through direct delivery of social welfare service in an approved social service agency under the direction of a qualified supervisor. The student completes approximately 20 hours of practicum experience per week in a social service agency and attends a practicum seminar held weekly on campus. Social Work program faculty and the agency supervisor work closely to ensure the student undergoes and intense, thorough, broad experience in direct service to people in need.
Prerequisites: SOWK 301 , SOWK 306 , SOWK 312 , and SOWK 325 . Senior majors only. Note: All students required to complete practicum must fill out a practicum application during the semester preceding practicum.
