SOWK 331 - Global Child Advocacy

(1cr) The purpose of this course is to prepare students to recognize child advocacy issues around the world from a human rights perspective. Multidisciplinary approaches to child advocacy in different countries or regions of the world will be presented and discussed. Attention will be given to current, global events, their impact on child welfare and advocacy, and their relationship to child welfare in the United States. This course is designed for students majoring in criminal justice, education, social work, sociology, psychology, nursing, or other areas where knowledge of child maltreatment and advocating for children will be necessary. This course may be repeated to a maximum of 3 credits.
