EDUC 570 - Special Methods of Teaching Mathematics

(3cr) A special methods course for teacher candidates pursuing a teaching specialization in mathematics.  An in-depth study of special methods, curriculum, problems, and techniques involved in mathematics instruction that address development of conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and mathematical reasoning or problem solving.  The class includes a 20-hour field placement to provide opportunities for application of methods. Prerequisites: Admission to teacher education program.
