EDUC 575 - Special Methods of Teaching World Language

(3cr) Is a world language methods course, designed to acquaint students with research-based practices that inform the development and implementation of a proficiency-based curriculum (ACTFL standards).  In recognition of new approaches that emphasize non-linguistic outcomes, this course will feature the theoretical background of communicative language teaching, with particular attention to intercultural competency.  The use of computer-aided language teaching methods is also addressed.  Students will get practical experience teaching their focus language during a 20-hour field placement. Prerequisites: Admission to teacher education program.
