GLBL 400 - Research Design & Methods(3cr) This course introduces students to the basics of research design and qualitative and quantitative methods with emphasis on their application to the study of various topics and issues in Global Studies. Course topics include development of a theoretically informed research question, formulation of an empirically testable hypothesis, case selection or sampling, data collection or data generation, assessment of data validity and reliability, and quantitative and qualitative assessment techniques. Students are required to develop a full-fledged research proposal for their Global Studies Capstone. Prerequisites: Senior status or permission of the Global Studies Director. GLBL 400 is a prerequisite for GLBL 450 Capstone in Global Studies.
