EDUC 355 - Reading and Language Arts I

(3cr) This course is designed to build fundamental knowledge of elementary reading and language arts teaching and learning, including standards-based curriculum design and research-based teaching strategies. The course focuses on a balanced literary program, which includes teaching phonics, identifying underlying language skills important for reading development and teaching basic principles of writing. Cross-curricular integration and inclusion are also discussed. Prerequisites: EDUC 333 . Corequisite: EDUC 358 .
