PSCI 427 - Russian and Eurasian Politics

(3 cr) Examination of post-Soviet Russia’s government, politics, society, and foreign policy. Certain events, phenomena, and aspects of the Soviet system will be examined to the extent that these still affect current Russian politics and society. Special attention will be given to post-Soviet Russia’s quest for a unifying national idea and efforts to forge “Eurasian” economic and political union. Previously numbered PSCI 327. Previously titled Comparative Government: Soviet Union and Its Aftermath. Prerequisites: PSCI 100  or permission of instructor.
