PSCI 312 - Public Opinion and Political Behavior(3 cr) An exploration of the role of public opinion, or the public will, in representative democracy. Topics include opinion formation and measurement, political knowledge, partisanship and ideology, attitude stability and change, the impact of public opinion on political behavior, and the relationship between elite and mass opinion. Particular emphasis is placed on an evaluation of the extent to which the public will is translated into governmental action within the political system. Prerequisites: PSCI 100 or 101 ; and MATH 314 , BADM 224 , PSYC 250 , or PSCI 211 ; or permission of instructor.
