CHEM 427 - Spectroscopy(3 cr) A study of the classical and quantum theories of the interaction of radiation with matter, including an introduction to the Schrodinger wave equation. The absorption and emission of radiation by atoms and molecules are treated, with particular emphasis being placed on ultraviolet, visible, and infrared spectroscopy and resonance phenomena. Prerequisites: CHEM 207 , CHEM 209 , PHYS 201 , PHYS 202 and math through calculus.
