4+1 BS Chemistry to MAT and Teacher certification

BS Chemistry/Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) 4+1

Eligibility:

Accelerated Pathway Candidates would apply at the conclusion of their sophomore year for “Pre Admission” to the MAT.

Requirements:

• Overall GPA 3.0
• Content GPA 3.0 
• Grade of C or Better in COMM 202 and all ENGL Courses
• Passing Scores on Praxis CASE or Documentation of Exemption
• Endorsement from undergraduate advisor for following:
  • Ability to handle graduate level coursework concurrently with undergraduate courses.
  • Ability to manage complex schedule involving field placement.
  • Interpersonal abilities to work with teachers and public school students.

Once provisionally admitted on the accelerated pathway, must maintain 3.0 GPA in all graduate courses (500 and above). Upon graduation, provisional status would change to full status.

The Chemistry MAT 4+1 program has two tracks:

1. Chemistry, B.S. , Traditional Concentration + Environmental Studies Minor ; or
2. Chemistry, B.S. , Biochemistry Concentration.
