EDUC 598 - Intermediate Pedagogy(3 cr) This 3-credit course is the second of two courses in Shepherd’s CERT First Initiative, an approved coursework option which is part of the WVDE Alternative Certification Program. Enrollment is limited to individuals approved by the WV Department of Education Alternative Certification program. The course builds on the foundation provided in EDUC 597 in advancing ability to design high quality lessons that maximize student learning. Weekly modules extend content previously introduced with attention to underlying principles of research and theory specifically designed to support success on the edTPA, a performance assessment that takes the place of the Praxis PLT certification requirement. The edTPA is a proprietary assessment and you will be required to set up an edTPA account at your own expense. To pass the course and apply for WV Teacher Certification, you must achieve a ‘B’ or better on individual module assessments and earn a passing score on the edTPA as delineated in the WV Testing Licensure Directory. Field experience in a West Virginia Public School is required. Prerequisites: Grade of ‘B’ or better in EDUC 597 .
