CHEM 333 - Environmental Chemistry(3 cr) CHEM 333 is a one semester course that introduces and expands on the relationship between chemistry and the environment, intended for majors in chemistry, biology, environmental science, and engineering. Topics include the chemistry of the lithosphere, upper and lower atmosphere, hydrosphere, the greenhouse effect, common organic and inorganic pollutants and toxins, and waste management. Emphasis is placed on anthropogenic influences on earth chemistry. Prerequisites: CHEM 209 ; OR ENVS 201 AND ENVS 201L AND ENVS 202 AND ENVS 202L . Corequisite: It is recommended, but not required, that CHEM 333L be taken concurrently.
