(1 cr) This course presents students with an overview of the current methods and materials of jazz education including rehearsal techniques, improvisation pedagogy, concert programming, jazz history, and repertoire. As a workshop experience, students will apply rehearsal techniques by conducting the Lab Band in rehearsal. Previously titled MUSC 308 Jazz Pedagogy (2cr); also previously MUSC 308 Jazz Techniques (1cr). Prerequisites: Declared music major or music minor; MUSC 103 and MUSC 104.
