HIST 521 - American Revolutionary Era(3 cr) An intensive study of the years 1763-1815, this course focuses on the causes, nature, and consequences of the American Revolution and the formation of the United States through the War of 1812. This class does not assume the inevitability of the United States. Instead, it examines how all peoples living in the mainland colonies affected the creation and security of that new nation, and how that new regime in turn shaped their lives. Students will undertake an intensive course of readings on historians’ interpretations of the major political, social, and economic issues of the Revolutionary era.
