The major in Secondary Education Major, Spanish Education Teaching Field, seeks to help prepare students to live and teach in a complex, technological, and diverse world by introducing them to varying perspectives offered by a thorough study of Spanish and Latin American literature and the Spanish language.   1. To encourage students to think critically and to communicate their thoughts effectively by helping them develop the skills necessary to understand, utilize, and  teach the Spanish language;
  2. To contribute to the liberal arts education of all students by exposing them to the diversity and richness of Spanish and Latin American literature and culture;
  3. To prepare majors Secondary Education, Spanish Education Field, to become reflective problem solvers capable of teaching Spanish on the middle and secondary levels in a country as ethnically diverse as ours.
