The certificate in Middle Eastern and African Studies is an interdisciplinary 18-credit hour foundation in the history, politics, economics, geography, language, and culture of the Middle East and Africa. It provides students with a regional specialization that complements related disciplinary concentrations in the social sciences and humanities.

Curriculum for a Certificate in Middle East and African Studies, 18 Hours:
Core Courses, 12 Hours:
Select four of the following courses:
Elective Courses, 6 Hours:
Select two additional courses from the list above, or up to two approved upper-division electives relevant to the Middle East or Africa from offerings in ECON, FREN, GEOG, HIST, PSCI, or SOCI. An approved internship experience may be used for one elective course.
A minimum of three different disciplines must be represented in the 18 credits elected.
