Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Programs of Study

Data analytics is a rapidly evolving discipline that incorporates concepts in mathematics, statistics, and computer science to collect and interpret large datasets efficiently and effectively. As ours is an increasingly data-driven world, those who can conduct high-level analyses of data will find their skills in demand across the entire job spectrum. Students who take data analytics courses at Shepherd are exposed to the various ethical, statistical, and algorithmic aspects of the discipline. By learning how to handle vast quantities of information in a streamlined fashion, data analytics students gain both mathematical and programming competence.

Curriculum for a Comprehensive Major in Data Analytics

Students in the program must select one of two areas of concentration: advanced data analytics, or biology. Student must satisfy requirements for their selected concentration, for the data analytics core, and for the Shepherd University Core Curriculum.

Total hours required (including free electives), 120 Hours:

Data Analytics Core, 62 Hours:

The following are requirements for all concentrations within the Data Analytics major. Individual concentrations have additional requirements.
