The Art History minor is designed to help students become acquainted with the roles art has played in various cultures throughout history and explore the functions of art in the contemporary world.  This program allows those students majoring in the arts or humanities to gain a specialization in this specific academic area, and it also allows those students who are majoring in non-arts related fields the chance to spend a portion of their time at Shepherd focusing on art and its engagement with human history.
