MUSC 111 - Introduction to Music
(3 cr) This course provides training and experiences that will enable the student to acquire a historical-social-aesthetic perspective, to comprehend musical concepts, to discriminate quality levels, to select satisfying and stimulating musical experiences, and to empathize with the creators and performers of music. The course explores Western music from the Middle Ages through the 20th century, and will include a more focused exploration of genres such as American popular song, jazz, or musical theater.
