HIST 312 - New Deal to Great Society(3 cr) This course examines United States history from 1932 to 1972, an era dominated by liberalism and the New Deal coalition. It explores attempts by the government and different groups within American society to reform politics and economic system to meet the challenges of a large and diverse population. It covers America’s international involvement against the backdrop of World War II and the Cold War. Domestic concerns include the expansion of the welfare state, McCarthyism, the civil rights movement, modern feminist movement, and student activism. Previously titled American Society in an Era of Crises, 1917-1945.
