MUSC 201 - Popular Song & Songwriting

(3cr) This course will engage students in the analysis and craft of popular song and songwriting. The course invites students to 1) examine the sociocultural and historical dynamics of the development and circulation of popular music in the United States; 2) utilize music theory, production/composition techniques, and creative thinking tools to understand the intricacies of the songwriting craft; and 3) develop their own songwriting skills and artistic voice.
