ENGL 534 - Literature and the Sexes(3 cr) A study of American, British, and Continental literature exploring the image of woman, also with emphasis on the relationship between the sexes. The course includes works by Aemilia Lanyer, Aphra Behn, Jane Austen, George Bernard Shaw, Henrik Ibsen, Virginia Woolf, and others. Gynocritical, deconstructive, and traditional critical approaches to the works are investigated, along with the social and psychological dimensions of a variety of contemporary gender issues.
