CHEM 490 - Peer Educator

(1-3cr) CHEM 490, Peer Educator, gives upper-level chemistry majors practical experience helping in the classroom or laboratory by assisting an instructor in one of the lower-level chemistry courses. Skills gained could include: problem solving, one-on-one or small group tutoring, demonstrating lab skills or techniques, running instrumentation, and/or prepping student labs. Each class credit will be a three hour weekly time commitment, and up to three credits may be taken in a semester. Students need approval from an instructor to work with and the chemistry department for enrollment in this course. Students may not be a Peer Educator for a course they are currently enrolled in even if they are enrolled in a different section. This course may be repeated to a maximum of 12 credits. Prerequisites: CHEM 315  and CHEM 315L .
