NURS 585 - Advanced Psychiatric Mental Health Treatment Synthesis and Practice Integration(4cr)
|
This course is designed to provide the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) student with advanced knowledge, skills, and experiences in relation to diagnosis, differential diagnosis, pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions for the treatment of mental health disorders. The student will learn to identify resources necessary to function in a variety of practice areas while preparing for certification and licensure. Biopsychosocial factors that influence patient adherence are addressed with emphasis on shared decision-making and patient-centered care. The student will work collaboratively with health care providers using integrated practices that improve access, quality, and cost-effective care. The practicum component for this course includes 180 direct patient care hours with 1 hour each week for clinical supervision.
