HIST 435 - Practicum in Civil War Studies(3 cr) This course provides both practical learning experience in a Civil War or 19th-century related park, museum, library, or similar setting and classroom discussion of how academic historians and public historians interpret the past. Possible sites may include the national parks at Antietam and Harpers Ferry or the National Museum of Civil War Medicine. Students will work at least 80 hours in tasks assigned by the cooperating site supervisor and the instructor and, in conjunction with the instructor and the site supervisor, will produce a research paper related to some aspect of the site.
