COMM 345 - Animation and Communication(3 cr) Computer-generated (CGI) animation has become standard fare in TV, film advertising, forensics/courtroom reenactment, education/training, gaming, Web design, and online media. This course explores the history and craft of computer animation via animation production with an emphasis on animation as a means of expressing perception (i.e., communication) and the discourses of animation as art and entertainment. Topics include key-framing, storytelling, storyboarding, lighting, compositing, and moviemaking as well as working with motion capture, particle effects, dynamic simulation, sound design, automation, and other facets of digital animation as they emerge.
