EDUC 523 - Diversity Awareness and the Contemporary Educator(3 cr)This course is designed to better prepare teachers to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse classroom and educational practice. By 2020 it is expected that children of color will comprise 46 percent of the national student population. Using case studies, role-playing, technology, and current literature, teachers will be exposed to the dynamics of diversity and how that diversity affects their practice. Participants are expected to develop a Human Rights Action Plan incorporating principles of human and social justice into their area of practice.
