MATH 434 - Senior Capstone(3 cr)This course involves a research-oriented project under the guidance of a faculty advisor or internship mentor. The student has the opportunity to work on a long-term project that could lead to a presentation at a scientific meeting or publication in a scientific journal. Typically the research is spread over two or three semesters and at the end, the student writes a paper summarizing the results and also gives an oral presentation of the results. The student is required to meet with the faculty by the end of the second year of course work in order to get started on the research work. Students are strongly encouraged to present results at scientific meetings.
