(3 cr)A study of the literatures of various American ethnic groups, including African American, Native American, Hispanic United States, Asian American, and Appalachian literatures. Emphasis will be placed on the oral tradition of the ethnic groups and the development of written literatures, with primary emphasis on twentieth-century written texts.Prerequisites: ENGL 301.
