HIST 307 - Reconstruction Era , 1865-1877

(3 cr) This course will detail the immediate effects and the enduring impact of the American Civil War upon the modern United States in the areas of race, constitutional development, national and state politics, and economy. It will explore postwar adjustments in all sections, the evolution of national policies on major issues, and the various interpretations of national reconciliation that culminate in the disputed presidential election of 1876.
