SPAN 415 - Spanish Phonetics/Phonology(3cr) The purpose of this course is the study of Spanish phonetics and phonology, which will entail an introduction on the basics of linquistic studies and a closer examination of two of the basic tenets of linquistic research: phonetics (the study of the sounds from the physical point of view) and phonology (the study of relationships between the sounds of a communicative system such as a language or a language variety). The study of phonetics will not only include learning about the production of those sounds, but also practices in their proper articulation. Moreover, the couse will also compare Spanish with English. Prerequisites: SPAN 301 , SPAN 302 , or permission of instructor.
